Megan is a general mental health therapist. She specializes in a large array of challenges including, but not limited to:
She has extensive experience working with diverse populations and provides a safe space for all sexual orientations, religions, gender identities, and world views. Megan works with individuals ages 18 and older. Megan offers both in-person and telehealth options.
Megan utilizes a multi-modal approach that integrates existential, cognitive behavioral (CBT), rational-emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), narrative, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed treatment. Megan has also received specialized training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). You can learn more about ART here. Megan uses a relaxed approach to counseling and strives for her clients to feel comfortable and accepted. She is direct and does not sugar-coat things, but loves to bring humor into her sessions to make those truth bombs much gentler.
Megan received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Arizona State University and then went on to complete a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners and is board certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors as a National Certified Counselor.
Megan is the owner of True Direction Counseling. Outside of counseling, Megan's personality can be summed up into four categories: reading, Starbucks, Disney, and Pilates. Megan loves to participate in Pilates and is a Pilates instructor as her "for funsies" job on the side. She is also an avid reader, so when she isn't working or spending time with her family, you will usually catch her with her nose in a book or listening to an audio book. She loves to travel and she has a goal to go to every Disney theme park on the planet. Megan is married and has two children (one of whom has special needs) who have unfortunately inherited her personality thanks to her mother’s curse (you know, the one where your mom says “I hope your kids grow up to act just like you). " Megan also loves dogs more than most people and has two fur babies: Lady and Tramp.
