Kelsey is a general mental health therapist who has experience working with individuals struggling with:
She is passionate about working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cherishes the opportunity to walk with her clients along their healing journey. She currently works with children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 5-26) for both in-person and telehealth therapy. She primarily provides individual therapy, but requests that for clients under age 18, their caregiver(s) be willing to participate in their child’s therapy as needed.
Kelsey believes that the most impactful aspect of therapy is the sense of safety that the therapist is able to create in collaboration with their client. For this reason, regardless of what therapeutic approaches she is pulling from, she focuses her sessions around non-judgmentally validating and supporting her clients while also challenging them toward the growth that they’re seeking. She is a Registered Play Therapist who is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for children and adolescents and is Basic Level Trained in Eye Movement Reprogramming and Desensitization (EMDR, Levels I & II) for individuals of all ages. She also incorporates techniques from Sandtray Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Theraplay, and Person-Centered Therapy.
Kelsey obtained her dual bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English with a minor in Gender Studies at Loyola University Chicago. She then went on to earn her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Kansas. She previously worked in community mental health with children from diverse income backgrounds, racial identities, genders, sexual orientations, and abilities with a primary focus on trauma-focused therapy. She is independently licensed in Kansas as a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW) and is licensed in Arizona as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Kelsey and her spouse recently moved to the Valley from her hometown of Kansas City. As a lover of the great outdoors, she is excited to relish in all of the awe-inspiring nature here in the Southwest! She is an avid reader, curious traveler, enthusiastic restaurant try-er, long-time runner (slow but steady!), live music appreciator, cuddly cat owner, hand embroiderer, and loving listener to family and friends.
Kelsey is not currently accepting new clients.
